Careerists and opportunists should not be promoted, and other people who are competent collaborators not excluded without any reason or expelled from the Curia. It’s not good. I heard it from some houses here, that people working in the Curia are living in great fear: If they say one small or harmless critical word, some spies will pass the comments directly to the Holy Father, and the falsely accused people don’t have any chance to defend themselves. These people, who are speaking bad words and lies against other persons, are disturbing and disrupting the good faith, the good name of others whom they are calling their brothers.
The Gospel and the words of Jesus are very strong against those who denounce their brothers and who are creating this bad atmosphere of suspicion. I’ve heard that nobody speaks; everyone is a little afraid because they can be snitched on. It’s not the behavior of adult people, but that of a boarding school.
[Edward Pentin:] One senior Church figure, speaking to me on condition of anonymity, called it a “reign of terror.”
[Cardinal Müller:] It’s the same in some theological faculties — if anybody has any remarks or questions about Amoris Laetitia, they will be expelled, and so on. That is not maturity. A certain interpretation of the document’s Footnote 351 cannot be criteria for becoming a bishop. A future bishop must be a witness to the Gospel, a successor of the apostles, and not only someone who repeats some words of a single pastoral document of the Pope without a mature theological understanding. […]
[Edward Pentin:] Regarding Amoris Laetitia and the fear of criticizing it, and the lack of response to the dubia, isn’t the irony that it goes against the Pope’s wish for parrhesia (to speak boldly and frankly) and dialogue?
[Cardinal Müller:] Everyone who becomes bishop, cardinal or pope must learn to distinguish between the critics who are against the person and critics against the mission you have. The Holy Father, Francis, must know that it is important one accepts his intention: to help those people who are distant from the Church, from the belief of the Church, from Jesus Christ, who wanted to help them. … This discussion is not against him, it is not against his intentions, but there is need of more clarification. Also, in the past, we had discussions about the faith and the pastoral application of it. It’s not the first time this has happened in the Church, and so why not learn from our long experiences as Church, to have a good, profound discussion in promoting the faith, the life of the Church and not to personalize and polarize? It’s not a personal criticism of him, and everybody must learn it and respect his high responsibility. It is a very big danger for the Church that some ideological groups present themselves as the exclusive guardians of the only true interpretation of Amoris Laetitia. They feel they have the right to condemn all people of another standpoint as stupid, rigid, old-fashioned, medieval, etc.
Nobody can, for example, say Cardinal Caffarra didn’t understand anything of moral theology. Sometimes the un-Christian behavior is printed in L’Osservatore Romano, the semi-official Vatican newspaper, or given in official organs of the media, to make polemics and rhetoric. This cannot help us in this situation — only a profound theological discussion will. [emphasis added]
These observations and comments have some grave implications with regard to the papacy of Pope Francis, inasmuch as he is, finally, responsible for this atmosphere of fear and distrust in Rome; and even for the suppression of some of the orthodox clergy and laymen (such as the highly respected Professor Josef Seifert).
In another section of his interview, however, Cardinal Müller insists, with regard to the confusion concerning Amoris Laetitia, that it is somehow not the pope’s fault: “I think the Pope should not be blamed for this confusion, but he is authorized by Jesus Christ to overcome it [the confusion].”
Cardinal Müller is at least to be commended for his courage to speak much truth in this new interview, and he likely will suffer for it. However, one may politely challenge him as to why he still does not call that man to come forth who is actually responsible, in the end, for this current state of affairs within the Catholic Church: Pope Francis himself. Do we not all have a duty loyally to resist him for creating such an atmosphere of fear and distrust and for suppressing the truly orthodox teaching? For, is it not finally about Christ’s own truth that we reverently speak?
The Ansa says that the web page that contains the text of the petition would not be accessible from computers within the Vatican walls.
“The access to the webpage you are trying to visit has been blocked in accordance with institutional security policies,” it would be a warning on the PCs of those inside the Holy See who tried to access the “correction” site, , writes the press agency . At this time, therefore, no one inside the Vatican could connect to www.correctiofilialis.org .
In the letter, dozens of priests and lay people called on the Pope to correct seven positions “backed up” in post-synodal apostolic exorcism by Amoris Laetitia and “through other words, acts and omissions associated with it”, labeled by the extensors of the document as “heretics” . Alleged positions that are not in line with the Catholic magisterium, according to the signatories, concern ” marriage , moral life, and the reception of the sacraments.” And Pope Francis, it is said in Correctio Filialis , would “cause the spread of these heretical opinions in the Catholic Church.”
The main object of the contention, in short, would be the statements contained in the Ariesis Laetitia regarding access to communion for divorced and repatriated persons who live more together . The same were the five “doubts” that were presented to the Pope by the Cardinals Charles Caffarra, Walter Brandmüller, Raymond L. Burke and Joachim Meisner. Through these assertions, the document reads in the summary of the document , the Pope would have allowed “directly or indirectly,” that it was believed that obedience to the Law of God could be impossible or undesirable and that the Church should sometimes accept adultery as compatible with being Catholic practitioners. “
Not only that, in the text, the signatories attribute the current crisis in the Church to ” modernism “, which theologically “argues that God has not delivered truths to the Church,” and “the apparent influence of Martin Luther’s ideas on Pope Francis “, In particular on” marriage, divorce, forgiveness and divine law “.
“Branch Correction” comes from dozens of members of the traditionalist universe. No cardinal, however, chose to affix his signature at the foot of the document, although in the past Cardinal Burke had suggested the possibility of presenting a “formal correction” to Pope Francis if the Holy Father did not respond to the “doubt” on Auritis Laetitia.
The purpose of the correction, however, explained yesterday Gotti Tedeschi at La Stampa , is not to “give the Eyewitness to the Pope”, but to safeguard the “good of the Church” and of the Pope itself.
This answers alot of questions. What could possibly go wrong? Is the Pope’s conclusions a surprise? Or did he merely get advisors who already agreed with his own beliefs? I think it is self-evident what went on here.

So the Vatican has ramped up its preoccupation with sex. As has been widely reported here and elsewhere, they’ve now got their very own sex-education program up and running. Published by the Pontifical Council for the Family, “The Meeting Point: The Adventure of Love,” purports to bring young people up to speed on the question of sex and chastity. And who better to do that than those paragons of virtue over at that Vatican.
Unveiled at World Youth Day (WYD) by Bishop Carlos Simon Vazquez, Undersecretary to the Pontifical Council for the Family, one wonders if parents fully realized when they sent their kids off to Krakow that they’d also signed them up to have this guy teach them a little something about sex:

American Life League condemns “The Meeting Point” here on their radio broadcast, Liftesitenews has an ALL-sponsored petition calling for the Vatican to recall it, and here’s what the Cardinal Newman Society has to say about this latest scandal out of the Vatican:
“We find that The Meeting Pointmakes frequent use of sexually explicit and morally objectionable images, fails to clearly identify and explain Catholic doctrine from elemental sources including the Ten Commandments and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and compromises the innocence and integrity of young people under the rightful care of their parents.”
Once again, the gutted Catholic Church of Vatican II—responsible for so much spiritual and moral carnage—is coming to the rescue, fresh off the largest clerical sex scandal and subsequent cover-up in history. (You’ve gotta hand it to these guys when it comes to chutzpah.)
And by the way, why is this even necessary after Theology of the Body (TOB) in Catholic schools was supposed to have brought our kids all up to speed on sex and chastity years ago? In my neighborhood, Catholic kids are force-fed TOB for two full years before they can even receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Do you suppose TOB isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? Impossible! St. John Paul gave TOB to us, and he’s a saint!
So with a straight face, Vatican representatives assured the folks at WYD that their new sex-ed program was developed to “help answer the problem of the deterioration of marriage and the family” as laid out at the 2015 World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia and the Vatican Synod on the Family. (And if you believe that’s what’s really going on here I’ve got a building to sell you on the Via della Conciliazione.)
In his March 21, 2016 letter, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, tells us that “this vocation to love is the fundamental task of parents in the family. In accomplishing their work, they can count on the help of different moral and educational communities: schools and men and women teachers, as well as on the cooperation of the other members of the church community: the parish priests, the catechists and other Christian faithful.”
That’s right! We really can count on the “church community and the parish priests” to teach our kids all about sex. That’s one thing they’re very good at. But who do these men think they’re kidding with this embarrassing (for them) and transparent attempt to absolve classroom sex education of its intrinsic evil? In his essay, “Classroom Sex Education,” Vernon J. Schaefer makes the point that “classroom sex education initiates children into the sensual. It is the gateway to all forms of sexual immorality.”
But, surely, the Pontifical Council for the Family isn’t attempting to “initiate children into the sensual”, much less build a “gateway to all forms of sexual immorality.” The accompanying graphic for the Fifth Unit of their new sex-ed program, for example, is clearly promoting chastity. Right?
It was probably just an oversight that the young lady preparing to camp out with her boyfriend has her hand on his thigh, while her friend is having her buttocks groped by her respective boyfriend. They’re not getting any younger inside the Vatican…so, maybe they just didn’t notice.
What’s the magisterium have to say about all this — the actual magisterium, that is, as opposed to the imaginary one inside the current Pope’s head. The real magisterium consistently prohibited classroom sex-ed from the very beginning. In his encyclical On Christian Education of Youth, for example, Pope Pius XI teaches that:
Far too common is the error of those who with dangerous assurance and under an ugly term propagate a so-called sex-education, falsely imagining they can forearm youth against the dangers of sensuality by means purely natural, such as a foolhardy initiation and precautionary instruction for all, indiscriminately, even in public.
On March 21, 1931 the Holy Office exhorted the Catholic world to reject all classroom sex education:
Question: May the method called “sex education” or even “sex initiation” be approved?
Answer: No. In the education of youth, the method to be followed is that hitherto observed by the Church and the Saints as recommended by His Holiness the Pope in the encyclical dealing with the Christian education of youth, promulgated on December 31, 1929. The first place is to be given to the full, sound and continuous instruction in religion … Hence, no approbation whatever can be given to the advocacy of the new method even as taken up recently by some Catholic authors and set before the public in printed publications.
In 1951 Pope Pius XII reiterated the constant teaching of the Church against classroom sex education when in his allocution to the Fathers of Families he said:
All Catholic educators, worthy of the name and their mission, are fully aware of the overwhelming importance of supernatural forces in man’s sanctification—youth or adult, married or single. But in the writings mentioned, hardly a word is said about these things, even when the whole matter is not passed over in complete silence. Even the principles so wisely explained by Our Predecessor, Pius XI, in the Encyclical <Divini illius Magistri>, regarding sexual education and the related problems, are pushed aside with a smile of compassion: Pius XI, it is said, wrote these things twenty years ago for his own times! The world has gone a long way since then!
But that was then. Today’s Vatican is very much into classroom sex-ed, with their brand-new course now available in five different languages with a promise to make it available in many more in the years to come and a curriculum that consists of six units, with four or five sections each. And of course Pope Pius XII was absolutely correct–the previous magisterial teachings against classroom sex-ed are “pushed aside with a smile of compassion” since the Vatican of Pope Francis has “gone a long way since then.”

The contents of Francis’ address to Polish bishops during World Youth Day in Krakow were released today. The closed-door meeting took place on 27 July in Krakow cathedral and the now former director of the Holy See press office, Fr. Federico Lombardi (he left his post two days ago), had described it as a “very simple and informal” event, stressing that “most bishops are simple men, they aren’t members of the old guard that intimidate you a bit, but there is no mystery, the meeting was a totally informal affair”. There was nothing secretive about what was said at the meeting, hence the Vatican published a summary of the exchange between the Polish bishops – who asked four questions – and the Pope. The gender topic was among the issues Pope Francis focused on the most, affirming he agreed with his predecessor, Benedict XVI: “This is the age of sin against the Creator”
“In Europe, America, Latin America, Africa and some Asian countries we are seeing some real ideological colonisations,” he repeated. “And one of these, I’m going to say it outright, is gender”: “Today, children, children! are told at school that they can choose their sex. Why are they taught this? Because the books are supplied by the people and institutions that give you the money. These are the ideological colonisations backed also by countries that wield a great deal of influence. And this is terrible. Speaking with Benedict XVI,” he said, “who is well and lucid, he told me: ‘Holiness, this is the age of sin against the Creator!’ He is intelligent! God created man and woman; God made the world like this, like this, like this… and we are doing the exact opposite.”

Just days before Pope Francis’ visit to Poland a Vatican statement has denounced an “artificially created fear of Muslims” which it says is being fed by some political parties in the country. T
he press release, released by the Holy See but written by a spokesman for the Polish Bishops, describes Poland as “ethnically homogenous” and that immigration is a relatively new phenomenon seen as strange to the average Polish person.
“For this reason, even through the official statistics relating to foreign citizens legally resident in Poland show that they make up just 0.4 per cent of the population as a whole, great fears exist”, Fr Pawel Rytel-Andrianik writes in a statement issued just before the beginning of World Youth Day in Krakow.

Rome (AFP) – Retired pope Benedict XVI is to lift the lid in a new book on his troubled time at the head of the Catholic Church, publishers announced Friday.
Entitled “Final Conversations” in Italian, the book is to be released in several languages and will take the form of an extended interview with German journalist Peter Seewald, who has collaborated on previous publications with the first pope to retire in seven centuries.
Italian daily Corriere della Sera, which has acquired the newspaper rights to the book and will publish excerpts in September, reported that it would include confirmation that there was a so-called “gay lobby” among senior Vatican clerics.
